Where these tall chimneys stand there used to be our farm land. My native place changed drastically from a small time poor village to a richer town when Enron Power project came here. Though initially called Dabhol Power Company, a harbor near my village, this power plant is actually located at my native place.

Now this whole thing is called Ratnagiri Gas and Power Pvt Ltd (RGPPL). It produces electricity by burning gasses like Naphtha or LNG(Liquefied Natural Gas). Owing to this colossal structures plus entire company area being bordered using barbwire my native place looks mix of industrial and an army camp town.

You know there is always darkness under the lamp, the same goes here too. Power cuts are regular here even though my village is so close to an electric plant. Irony isn’t it?
